Bradford reaffirms it's commitment to a Zero Tolerance to FGM in the District
Thursday 6th February 2020 saw the UN sponsored day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation designed to raise awareness of the issue and in efforts to bring FGM to an end worldwide.
To mark this professionals from across the District and County came together at City Hall to celebrate the work being undertaken in the District to tackle the abusive practice of FGM.
All present reaffirmed their pledge to end this abhorrent practice with the following pledge
“We, Bradford District support the International zero tolerance campaign and will raise awareness of this safeguarding issue and build on the hard work to put a stop to FGM.
Bradford Council and its partners stand firmly against FGM and resolve to:
- Support the International Day of Tolerance against FGM
- Continue to work closely together to fulfil our shared responsibility to safeguard and protect local women and girls against FGM
- Continue to work with all the partner organisations including the voluntary sector to raise awareness about this issue and make it clear that any form of FGM is not acceptable.
